I have a PS4 that sits in a shelf under my TV. There's a small opening in the back of the shelf where all the wires pass through from. The problem with this setup is that the PS4 gets really hot and really loud in the small space. The fan in the PS4 has to kick in quickly since there's not enough of a opening in the back for the hot air to escape. This causes the PS4 to heat up quickly and stay hot until turned off.
This kind of heat is very bad for a gaming console and quickly shortens the lifespan of it. There are not many ways to fix this problem, other than moving your PS4 some place else which may be less convenient. Except for this cooling fan from Tree New Bee, which is a great fix.
This cooling fan was made for gaming laptops, but it works great for gaming consoles. The USB cord can easily go inside the front USB port on the PS4. When the PS4 turns on, the fan also turns on automatically, which starts working to keep your PS4 cool instantly. The Xbox One also has USB ports, so i'm assuming it would work just as well on the Xbox as well. In fact, it should work for any gaming console with USB ports like the PS3 and the 360 as well.
One negative of using it this way is that the fan will continue to run even when the PS4 is in rest mode. The fan only stops when the PS4 itself turns off completely as well.
On the side of the fans are dials which you can use to increase and decrease fan speed, which is great since i like to keep it low when i want to keep the noise down and i'm not going to be using my PS4 for too long. Then i like to turn it up, whenever i'm going to play for a couple hours.
Take a look at the pics i have attached to see how my setup looks. I hope the seller starts advertising this fan for gaming consoles as well since it's a great and cheap fix to what is a huge problem.
WARNING: One huge negative about this fan is that while the top has a mesh which protects you ringers from going into the fan, the bottom does not. The bottom has large openings where you fingers can accidentally and easily go in. I discovered this when i handed it to my friend, while it was on, and as he grabbed it his finger went in and hit the blades of the fan. The cooling pad was on low speed so there was only a short pain, but still this is something that should be fixed. I won't take a star out for it since it's not really a problem for me, since i keep in one place. But for people that use it on the go and are constantly grabbing and moving it, it could be quite dangerous.
