Book Review: The Grownup

I'm sure you've heard the marketing behind this book. A collaboration between Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl) and George R. R. Martin (Game of Thrones) sounds like a interesting idea, but the truth is that this is mainly a Gillian Flynn novel. Martin was only the editor of the anthology that it originally appeared in. Depending on which author you like more, this might either be good news or bad news.

As a fan of Gone Girl, I found this novella to be a very fun read. Yes, as many have said, it is very short, but that's okay since what's there is very well written book. If you liked the prose in Gone Girl, you feel right at home here in The Grownup. Flynn, like always, does a amazing job of writing her female characters. In this book she is Susan Burke, a con woman psychic.

I don't want to spoil anything in the story since it's so short, but honestly other than a slightly disappointing ending, it's a wonderful book and i highly recommend it.
