I usually put the phone on my lap when i'm using it as a GPS, but it's pretty dangerous as i'm constantly taking my eye off the road. This suction attaches safely and doesn't come off no matter how hard i break. I can keep my eye on the road with this on and drive a whole lot easily. The grip has soft material on it so it doesn't scratch your phone. It can also extend a lot, so you can put your phone on it even with the case on.
Also the long goose neck design is bendable and you can shape the neck which ever way you find it comfortable. I have mine tilted the drivers side for extra ease and comfort
